Ronbun
I love my advisor. He's always incredibly accessible and more than willing to go out of his way to be helpful. Needless to say, I take as many of his classes as I can. He just gave back our proposal for our final papers, and I love him a little more now.
So, this isn't the usual 10-15 page final paper. 25-30 or more. Yeah, that's a lot of pages. But, this class is also supposed to help you get ready to write a thesis and things. His comments were great. He gave me some ideas for different ways to approach my topic. To look at it chronologically and all kinds of stuff. Plus, he supplemented my bibliography with some of his own books he offered to lend me. And he told me that we'd look into Japanese sources, because I don't think I could read them easily on my own.
And, of course, he ends it by saying, try x, x, and y and then we'll see where to go.
I would marry him if he weren't already married.
It does, however, really make me think writing a thesis next year might not be a bad idea. I'm definately writing one for Literary Arts, but that actually just means you write a book, so the East Asian Studies one would be like a serious research paper. And if I do both, I'd graduate 'With Honors' in both of my majors. From Brown.
That might be worth the effort...
